Teagan Michael Turner

As a multi-disciplinary artist and spiritualist, my creative journey is deeply rooted in whimsical cultural and historical influences; Victorian era, rococo style, art deco, to name a few. My artwork is a reflection of my spiritual explorations, drawing from an eclectic mix of ideas, with a particular fascination for the interplay of dualities.

Astrology and the elemental forces also play a significant role in my art, infusing each piece with a deeper, cosmic significance. My passion extends to the concept of worldbuilding – creating a unique, evolving universe building off of each artwork.

The transformative power of colors also captivates me; their ability to convey emotion and atmosphere is a cornerstone of my creative process. My ultimate aspiration is to travel, gathering inspiration from the world's myriad landscapes and cultures, and to manifest my inner world into physical spaces. It would be another extraordinary way to share my inner visions with others, making the intangible, tangible.

A Studio Tour (2023)

Home office with a glass desk, computer monitor, office supplies, and potted plants, surrounded by shelves with books and decorative items, windows with greenery outside.

The eclectic nature of my space (which I attribute entirely to Cancerian energy) is what inspires my thoughts. From the epic works of Gods and Heroes of Ancient Greece, brilliant and inspiring works of fiction to new age books on philosophy.

My beloved plants, stand as whispering companions in this creative journey. There's Leon, the avocado bonsai, standing  tall and stately. Leon's perseverance and growth have echoed my own artistic journey and his spirit has seeped into the creation of every card.

Then there's Eywa, the twisted money tree, symbolizing abundance and prosperity, and The Na’vi Cluster, a lively gathering of greenery just behind the monitor, both always offering their calming presence. These natural companions lend their unique energy, adding another layer of consciousness to the creative process.

It's quite fascinating to observe the profound impact these plants have on their surroundings - and even more remarkable to witness how we, in turn, can influence such change in them. Before embarking on this tarot project, Leon had remained half his current size for a solid four years.  Yet, in the time-span of my journey creating the deck, he has flourished and doubled in size.

An organized workspace with a vintage wooden desk featuring a potted bonsai tree, a mannequin figure, and a framed picture. The desk has a large green work surface with books, photos, and decor, including a bottle with string lights, a potted plant, and a small black stereo. There is a white cabinet with drawers below the work surface.

Everything has a place and purpose here, contributing to the harmonious chaos that fuels my creative energy. This tucked-away corner is much like the unseen facets of my psyche - not always in direct view but imperative to the full picture.

A cozy room with eclectic decor, a black closet door, a wooden rocking chair with a patterned blanket, a chalkboard on the door with notes, a desk with open books, a guitar hanging on the wall, and various framed pictures and art on the walls.

This chair sees more of my musings than I'd like to admit. After all, a significant part of an artist's work is spent contemplating - thinking about working, dreaming about creating. Each gentle rock in this chair is a nod to the conception of a new idea, a fresh perspective, a moment of inspiration.

Also featured in this space is a mirror, a charming piece of craft my brother made years ago in highschool. Saved from the discard, it has found a renewed purpose in my studio. Now, it plays host to a ledge of plants and crystals.

A wooden shelf with decorative items, a mirror, a glass jar with a plant, and various small objects.

Crowned with a copper pyramid, it creates a vortex of fresh energy in my creative space. Within, rests a selenite crystal, its ethereal luminescence inviting and emanating intuition and clarity. This special assembly spreads a harmonious synergy, reinforcing my connection with the deeper realms of consciousness, fostering a creative flow that infuses every piece of artwork I design.

This has been a brief but heartfelt tour of the sanctuary where the Journey Tarot Deck came to life. A place of inspiration and contemplation, filled with an eclectic mix of elements that tell their own stories and add their unique energies to my projects.

Someday I will move on from this space and leave behind good, bad, and ugly memories all of which I cherish as they have made me the person I am now. I thank you for your interest in my artwork, myself, and the space in which I create.
